Trek in Yosemite National Park’s spectacular mountain scenery, deep valleys, wild rivers, and grand meadows. This is a special opportunity to stay in the High Sierra Camps, a type of hut-to-hut system complete with bedding and meals, so you carry a daypack. CMC was fortunate to obtain reservations for the camps, as they are always in high demand.

The Tuscan countryside is in many respects a cyclist’s dream – a heady mix of vineyards, olive groves, poplars and cypresses, rolling hills and charming medieval hill towns steeped in atmosphere and tradition. This bike tour explores the lesser known, but no less beautiful areas of Tuscany to the west of the renowned Siena region. The tour includes seven days of cycling with the opportunity to cycle three more days. In the seven cycling days we will cycle 254 miles, averaging 36 miles a day with a maximum day of 50 miles. Experience the splendor of Rocky Mountain National Park in the autumn when temperatures are cool and colors are exploding. Hike European style Inn-to-Inn on some of the best trails in the Park. We carry only a daypack as our luggage is transferred to our night’s lodgings. We sleep in historic Colorado lodges and inns and enjoy fabulous meals, including a gourmet celebratory feast on our last night.

This trip includes four days of hiking in the unique desert region of Cappadocia and the Ihlara valley. Cappadocia is described as both a lunar landscape and a fairyland of bizarre geologic formations which have been carved by people for centuries as homes and safe havens. The classic trek to Everest Base Camp includes sightseeing in Kathmandu, hiking up the beautiful Dudh Kosi Valley to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche's famous monastery, Pheriche and 18,000 ft. Kala Patar with it’s stunning close-up view of Mt. Everest. From there we will trek to Chukung for optional climbs of both Island Peak and Chukungukla. Other highlights include visiting Kathmandu, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche's famous monastery, the High Himalyan Rescue Station and Pheruche. A special visit to the village where our leader Pemba grew up culminates with having dinner with Pemba's mother!
November 22 - December 13, 2015
Ascend the highest mountain in the Western & Southern hemispheres expedition style. Climb in stages, for acclimatization, with a base camp, two intermediate camps, and a high camp. The whole trip is ~26 miles each way, 52 mi round trip and ~14,000’ elevation gain/loss. Mules will carry the heavy gear to base camp at (~14,300’) and back down. Climbers carry all gear on the upper mountain above base camp.
February 10 - 15, 2016
The Old Faithful Geyser basin serves as a luxurious basecamp for this CMC adventure. There are numerous trails leaving right from the lodge, and snowshoers and cross-country skiers can plan a day’s outing of any length or ability. Wildlife, especially bison and coyote, are common in the geyser basin and if you’re lucky you may see moose, elk, a trumpeter swan, or a river otter on the Firehole River. There are three full days for in-park adventures, and evening happy hours and buffet dinners allow trip participants to share tales of their adventures, and organize into groups for the next day’s outings. Take a motorized raft trip and add 5 extra days for hiking along the way. This 12-day raft trip ends with a helicopter ride out of the canyon and a plane flight back to the put-in. For B & C hiking levels.

Experience 5 days of incredible hikes in the Egypt area of the Escalante/Grand Staircase out of Boulder, Utah! This trip will take us through a spectacular set of canyons; we will be in the beautiful desert sands hiking near the Escalante River between Chop Rock and Neon canyons. We will explore the narrows and side canyons of Chop Rock, make some river crossings, and visit out of the way canyons like Ringtail, a slightly technical slot canyon.
May 18 - 31, 2016
Hike Scotland’s West Highland Way for 95 miles beside lochs, waterfalls, and craggy mountains in the Scottish Highlands. Then climb to the summit of “the Ben” (4,409 feet), weather permitting. While hiking will be the trip’s focus, the group will also tour medieval Edinburgh, Stirling (famous for being the home of William Wallace), the Eliean Donan Castle in the Scottish Highlands, and a Scotch distillery. Join us for this extended trek to the historic ancient Inca city Machu Picchu. After arriving in Cusco, Peru at 11,000’ elevation, we will have one rest day on our own, then spend one day touring the Sacred Valley just outside Cusco. For the main event, we will have an extended 7-day guided and supported trek starting from Soray Pompa. We will trek on the Salkanty Trail, over the scenic 16,006’ Inca Chiriasqu Pass, join the traditional Inca Trail at Huayllabamba, trek 3 more days over 3 more passes, and arrive Machu Picchu itself. After spending the last full day touring this sacred ancient Inca village high in the Andes Mountains, we will return to Cusco.

This trip will include two of New Zealand's Great Walks, the Milford Track and the Abel Tasman Coast Track, both on the South Island and each very unique and distinctly different from each other. Take an overnight cruise on the Milford Sound, a trip from Te Anau to Queenstown on the Backroads Bus, a historic steamship cruise of Lake Wakatipu to Queenstown, a crossing of Cook Strait from Picton to Wellington via the Interislander Cook Strait ferry, and conclude with an overnight stay on Kapiti Island.
