Colombia’s El Cocuy National Park: High Altitude Mountaineering


Known as the hidden gem of South America, El Cocuy National Park is in Beautiful Colombia with glaciated peaks over 17,000 feet! Our tip will take us through a cirque with the opportunity to climb several peaks including the highest one in the park – Ritacuba Blanco. By summer, Crested Butte is the wildflower capital of Colorado; by winter it’s the state’s premier snow paradise. Two Great Walks of New Zealand (Wait List)

European Haute Route Ski Tour 2017 


Come join this first CMC Ski Tour offered in many years. Organized by Gary Hellenga, this is perhaps the world's most famous ski trip. Starting in Chamonix, France from the shadow of Mont Blanc, to the picturesque village of Zermatt, Switzerland beaneath the imposing Matterhorn, this trip offers everything for the adventurous skier. The tour entails five days of skinning to passes and descending high alpine slopes and glaciers. Participants must be skilled skiers in great physical condition. The itinerary includes a warm-up/shakedown day of skiing in the Chamonix area before starting the tour, and an additional day for sightseeing ot additional skiing.

Scotland’s West Highland Way and Optional Ben Nevis Climb


Hike Scotland’s West Highland Way for 95 miles beside lochs, waterfalls, and craggy mountains in the Scottish Highlands. This famous route is walked by over 50,000 people each year, making it the most popular long distance walk in Scotland. The path uses ancient roads, including drovers’ roads, military roads and old coaching roads and we will walk the traditional route from south to north to the foot of Scotland’s (and the U.K.’s) highest peak, Ben Nevis. Weather permitting, options after completing the West Highland Way include a climb to the summit of “the Ben” (4,409 feet), or an excursion on the West Highland Railway/Ferry to Mallaig and Armadale. While hiking will be the trip’s focus, the group will also tour medieval Edinburgh, Stirling (famous for being the home of William Wallace), the Eliean Donan Castle in the Scottish Highlands, and a Scotch distillery.

Our trip is designed for those who enjoy easier day hikes, around 6-8 miles daily with about 1,000-1500 feet elevation gain (CMC A/Easy B hikes classification). The Best Easy Hikes in Switzerland

The majestic beauty of the Swiss landscape is well known to all. The Swiss people are wonderful, and the good food and great hotels are part of the country’s tradition! A precise, extensive and safe network of transportation has made its mountains a paradise for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, snow walking (and climbing too!). Climb a 6000m peak in one of the most beautiful mountain destinations on Earth. The Cordillera Blanca range in Peru is the world’s only high mountain range in the tropics, with peaks featuring feet of dramatic fluted snow. This trip will focus on the Quebrada Ischinca valley, leveraging a series of peaks (Urus Este – 5420m, Ishinca – 5530m) to acclimatize and climb Tocllaraju (6030m). The last two days of the trip, headquartered out Huaraz, will be a climb of Pisco Este (5750m) for a vantage of Peru’s high point of Huascarán. Oaxaca Mexico and Sierra Madre Trek

This 12-day adventure delves into the culture, history and tastes of the Zapotec people of Mexico. Starting in the capital city of Oaxaca (pronounced "wah-HAH-kah"), we’ll tour pyramids, ancient sites and an alijebre factory (where the famous carved figurines are made). Then, we’ll shed our city clothes and head to the Sierra Madre mountains. We’ll trek for 8 days from village-to-village in the Pueblos Mancomunados (6000’-9500’ elevation) where we’ll experience canyons, caves, waterfalls, panoramas, deciduous cactus and sub-alpine forests.
