Denver Group Conservation Committee

The picture at left is of the 30,000 acre Front Range Roadless area taken from near Devils Head, just 30 miles from Denver. It is an important project of the committee.

Conservation Committee Mission - The Denver Conservation Committee works in conjunction with the CMC Conservation Department. We are volunteers from the Denver Group who work on projects and issues to preserve public lands and the responsible enjoyment of those lands.

Pike National Forest - In addition to Front Range Roadless area, many other Denver Group activities are on the Pike Forest. This forest is under considerable threat from over-recreation, motorized use, adjacent private development, and fuel thinning. Denver Conservation works with UASPP (Upper Arkansas & South Platte Project) for protection of the Pike forest. Our goal is preservation of it's wild and scenic character and wildlife habitat.

Arapahoe National Forest - This forest is another primary area where Denver Group activities occur. We currently are interested in a volunteer willing to work on issues related to the Arapahoe Forest.
