The Colorado Mountain Club's Youth Education Program offers courses year round. Winter, spring break or summer you will find us exploring the Rocky Mountains and surrounding areas through adventure and education. Our courses typically run during the day Monday through Friday during school breaks. We also offer a few overnight courses every year where we travel to a popular climbing destination for a week of camping and fun.
Our students find themselves learning technical rock climbing skills, hiking, exploring our diverse ecosystems and even sledding a glacier in the summer. We pride ourselves in combining adventure with education to encourage the personal development of our students.
Who We Work With
If you enjoy being outside, adventure, learning new skills and making friends then our program is for you. Whether you are brand new to being in the wilderness or you are an avid climber and hiker we have a course specifically designed to fit your skill level. We offer courses for youth of all ages from elementary through high school and beyond.
Our students make life long friendships as they learn to trust each other and work together in the field. We see return students every year as they progress through our courses gaining new skills and confidence all along the way.
We believe that learning and playing outside should be available to everyone. Therefore, we work hard to make scholarships available to anyone who may find it helpful. Scholarship applications are available on every course registration page.
“Camp showed me that I can do anything that I put my mind to. I know that I am a really good climber now, because I want to be. I have more confidence not only in climbing, because of the way that everyone pushed me and encouraged me, but it also imacted me in other aspects of my life - helping me to know that I can do anything I put my mind to.” - YEP summer course student.
