The first Monday of every month, 5:30 – 7:30 pm, at the CMC
indoor climbing wall. Open to beginner
and experienced climbers, this is a great way to learn basic skills, improve
your climbing, and have fun with other young adult members interested in climbing. Wall will always be staffed with one or more
September, October, November, and December
Increase your outdoor skills and knowledge, and connect with
others who share a passion for outdoor adventuring through a variety of
expedition-based learning experiences. Weekend
sessions last 1-2 days, cover a range of topics, and take place largely in the
field. Contact Carmen Stagg to see if these could qualify for volunteer hours or
IB credit with your school! Scholarships are available for all courses.

Wilderness Hiking & Summit Skills
Get a true alpine start this season with a September summit! September offers some of the most beautiful weather and conditions for climbing Colorado peaks, so expand your hiking skills and put them to the test on one of Colorado's famous 14ers. This course
will begin with an overview of the essential skills and knowledge necessary to be prepared while adventuring in the mountains of Colorado. Participants will spend a day practicing backcountry skills and learning about the land, while hiking and camping in the wilderness near Summit County, and the trip will culminate with a summit of one of Colorado's Hundred Highest peaks. Tree Climbing & Forest Skills
Why climb trees? In
the words of experienced tree climbers, “for the adventure, the experience of
something new every climb, the physical challenge, the joy, the opening up of
the world.” Led by a Master Instructor
from Tree Climbing Colorado, this course will cover the basics of tree climbing
and forest skills. Participants will learn
about the knots and the unique climbing systems used by recreational tree
climbers. The course will also introduce
participants to forest ecology and the many careers that involve trees and tree
climbing. Join us for a day-long course
that provides a new and different experience of the forest. Register now!

Mountain Biking & Climbing Adventure
Back by popular demand, Alpine Start Teen Ventures will be
hosting another mountain biking and rock climbing multi-sport adventure. This course will cover basic skills such as
technique and maintenance, and will also include biking to a local crag for a
day of outdoor climbing. Whether you are
new to either sport, want an introduction to basic skills, or are a
confident biker or climber, this course accommodates all levels and is
guaranteed to be a good time. Register now!

Winter Backcountry Skills
Spend a night in the backcountry! Our trip will
begin with a winter snowshoe expedition (weather permitting) as we travel into the backcountry to reach our rustic cabin destination. The following day will be spent further
exploring and learning about the pristine wilderness around us. Topics covered may include winter camping,
snow shelters, avalanche safety, native plants and wildlife, route-finding, and
survival in the backcountry. Transportation, meals & necessary gear included. Register now!

ROCKTOBER Camping and Climbing
This 2 day
camping and climbing expedition is in partnership with the CMC Youth
Program. Alpine Start Teen Ventures will be taking a group of ten 15-18
on a two day camping and climbing adventure, leaving the afternoon of
Friday October 11th and returning Sunday, October 13th. We will a day climbing at Golden Gate Canyon State Park, where we will also camp both nights, and also spend a day climbing in Eldorado Canyon.
Transportation, meals & necessary gear included.
