Winter Backcountry Skills Hut Trip
February 15 - 16, 2014
Spend a night in the backcountry! Our trip will begin with a winter snowshoe expedition (weather permitting) as we travel into the backcountry near Brainard Lake to reach our rustic cabin destination. We will spend the night at the CMC-built Brainard Cabin, located at 10,405 feet in the busy, beautiful Brainard Lake Recreation Area of Roosevelt National Forest. The following day will be spent further exploring and learning about the pristine wilderness around us. Topics covered may include winter camping, snow shelters, avalanche safety, native plants and wildlife, route-finding, and survival in the backcountry. Transportation, meals & necessary gear included.
