Denver Downhillers Section
The Downhillers show their love of the mountains by alpine skiing at areas. Volunteer leaders organize day trips to areas within 2 hours of Denver, and multi-day trips to western Colorado and out of state destinations, such as Utah.

In October, the section has a popular evening meeting during which CMC members learn about multi-day trips being offered and have the opportunity to sign up for them. Ski area reps may be on hand to offer information and sell passes.

All trips are listed in the winter Activity Schedule and members can sign up either through the CMC office (303 279 3080, #2), or by logging on to the website- know your member #). However, for multi-day trips, contact only the leader. Non-CMC members can sign up for a trip if accompanied by a member.

For day trips, car-pooling is the norm and drivers are reimbursed 8 cents per mile.

For multi-day trips, sign-ups are usually done at the October meeting, and a deposit is required to secure a spot. Leaders clarify details when you sign up, and checks are made out to CMC, not the leader. Transportation is by bus, plane, or car pooling occasionally. There is a cancellation fee for multi-day trips. If you need to cancel closer to the trip, there is a repayment schedule. All trips are first come first served, and the overnight trips fill up quickly. There are waiting lists.

Please join the Downhillers Section on the snowy slopes this winter, and enjoy our mountains and our camaraderie. We are a social group with all ski ability levels.

PLEASE DON'T BE A NO SHOW ON DAY TRIPS AND CALL THE LEADER TO CANCEL.

Note: Nonmembers are permitted to participate on trips, but are limited to two trips and must be accompanied by a member.

Downhillers E-mail List Server

The Downhillers have set up an e-mail list for any CMC member that wants to be kept informed of downhill (ski/board) snow events. The cmc-downhillers email list is an announcement only list that carries items of special interest as determined by the CMC's Denver Downhillers Section leadership. The list will carry trip announcements and reports, meeting notices, newsletters, and may carry other posts deemed by the list owner to be newsworthy.

To subscribe to this list (and other CMC lists), use the form at http://www.climber.org/scripts/websub.cgi?SUBSCRIBE. Enter all the information in step 1 including your CMC membership number. In step 2, check all the lists in which you want to subscribe. Push the SEND button in step 3. You will receive a confirmation request for each list you subscribed to, this prevents someone from signing others up unwillingly. You will need to respond to each confirmation request. Follow the confirmation instructions and you are signed up. Note: It may take some time while the list owner checks credentials (membership number) for the confirmation to arrive.
