Membership in the High Altitude Mountaineering Section (HAMS) provides opportunities for Colorado Mountain Club climbers to meet others interested in far away peaks, often involving snow, ice and travel. Section members receive Thin Air , the section's newsletter, five times a year. Thin Air includes information and articles on high altitude mountaineering, including accounts of expeditions, meeting announcements, used equipment sales, and "how-to" advice.
The section sponsors slide shows of worldwide high altitude expeditions five times a year, the High Altitude Mountaineering School , and additional training opportunities and trips. Each year the section also sponsors several high altitude mountaineering expeditions to destinations around the world.
All CMC members may join the section regardless of classification. The section has an annual membership fee ($7, at publication date), which covers section expenses. To join, send your name, address, and phone number, plus a check made payable to the CMC (for the current amount, with "HAMS" indicated on it), to the CMC office.
