| The Technical Section is for those members interested in technical climbing, both on rock and ice. The Technical Section sponsors programs, the Beginner Rock Climbing Seminar (BRCS) , and the Traditional Lead Climbing School (TLCS) . The section has a newsletter for its members. Subscribers to the Section's e-mail list service (see below) are notified when a new issue of the newsletter is available on the web.
The Technical Section offers three types of climbing trips; regular multi-pitch, technical rock practice, and area climbs.
Regular multi-pitch climbs are the most numerous and are held at local areas, like Eldorado and Boulder Canyons, and on the Flatirons. These climbs are of a single route with all participants climbing on that route. Graduation from TLCS or equivalent experience is usually required for members to participate.
Technical rock practices are top-roped sessions on weekends or evenings. These activities are usually in an area where multiple climbs can be top-roped at once. Members should have taken BRCS , BMS , or equivalent before coming on these.
Area climbs are weekend trips for climbing either Saturday or Sunday. On these activities, several routes in an area are climbed by participants at the same time. Graduation from TLCS or equivalent experience is usually required for members to participate.
Tech Section Programs
The Section presents programs in January, March, May, September, and November that feature technical climbing subjects. These programs are open to the public. Please check the Special Sections Events for the announcement of the next program.
