Trip Schedules

The Colorado Mountain Club's Activity Schedule is published twice a year, listing all Winter and Summer mountain activities of the Club. The schedule is sent to all CMC members and the listing of activities is arranged by group. The schedule is a special edition of the Trail and Timberline published in October and April. All new members receive a copy of the issue listing the current activities. Denver Group trips are listed by date in the Group's section of the Activity Schedule.

Trip Difficulty: Selecting an Appropriate Trip

Please be sure you're physically and mentally prepared for your trip. Please review trip descriptions carefully, paying attention to anticipated distances, elevation gain, and necessary skills. If you have any questions, call the trip leader. The leader would much rather you call with any questions than go on a trip that's above your level or puts you in an uncomfortable position. If you're unsure of your ability, try easier trips first: you'll still have fun, and you'll gain experience and confidence. If instead you go on a trip for which you're not prepared, everyone on that trip-and especially you-will have an unpleasant and potentially hazardous experience.

Activities are categorized into types and most types such as hikes have a Trip Classification to inform you of the difficulty rating when selecting a trip. Please see Trip Classifications for the definitions of these ratings. The trip descriptions also provide round trip distance, elevation gain, and estimated driving distance to help you decide when selecting a trip.

Required Equipment or Schools

The trip descriptions will sometimes include required equipment or schools. These are determined by the trip leader as necessary requirements for participation on the trip. Please see Suggested Equipment for what you should consider bringing on all CMC trips.

On-Line Activity Schedule

The Activity Schedule is on-line in the password protected Member Pages . Use your membership number and zip code to access the On-Line Activity Schedule .

Other Group's Trips

Each group provides information about participating in the group's activities. All activities of any group are open to all CMC members regardless of group affiliation. Group's may set qualifications for participating on the harder trips and policies for registration. More information is available in the Colorado Mountain Club's Member Handbook.
