Longs Peak Group

With its name recognizing the dominant mountain in the area, the Longs Peak Group serves CMC members in Longmont, Lyons, Erie , Louisville, Mead, Niwot, and the surrounding area. Formed in 1963 largely through the efforts of Russ Palmer of Longmont, the Group offers a complete range of outdoor activities throughout the state, from the easiest A hikes to more difficult C and D hikes, rock climbs, cross-country ski tours, and snowshoe trips.

Longs Peak Group trips are generally open to qualified members of all CMC Groups, their guests, and visitors. All trip participants must register with the trip leader as early as possible. The leader will notify those registered if weather or other circumstances force a change in plans. The number of participants will vary according to the difficulty of the trip, leader's discretion, and restrictions by the Forest Service, wilderness area, state park, or national park. Trip information may change after the publication of the CMC Activity Schedule. Changes will normally be announced in the Longs Peak Group newsletter.
