 Title Colorado's Quiet Winter Trails
 Description By Dave Muller

• Quiet winter trails, no snowmobiles allowed
• Richly illustrated with four color photos and maps throughout
• Accurate, up-to-date route descriptions

Veteran author Dave Muller has identified and described 99 snowshoe and cross country ski routes that by Colorado or Federal regulation (and enforcement of forest constables) are free of snowmobiles. These are routes to be enjoyed and savored with the only sounds coming from your equipment moving through the snow and the pound of your heartbeat and rasp of your breath at altitude.

Each route description starts with extensive beta including: Distance, estimated time needed to complete the route, starting elevation, highest elevation, elevation gain, difficulty level, an assessment of avalanche danger and a list of all the relevant Colorado, Federal and privately produced maps.

The description is divided into three discrete sections:
"Getting There" describes how to find the trailhead from major Colorado roads. Next comes a section called "Comment" which gives a general description of the route and its outstanding features. Finally, "The Tour" describes the route in detail, particularly the spots where you can get lost if you are breaking trail.

DAVE MULLERis a practicing psychiatrist and was also The Denver Post hiking columnist for fourteen years. He lives in Denver
