CMC Group for Young Adults
Alpine Start is a CMC group for 18-25+ year olds' offering a variety of opportunities for young adults in the Front Range to experience the mountains. In addition to simply enjoying the outdoors with peers, Alpine Start offers age-specific opportunities for young adults to participate in outdoor leadership training, stewardship projects, and social events such as film festivals and holiday parties. Alpine Start members participate in group activities for a variety of reasons, ranging from pure enjoyment to fulfilling academic & volunteer requirements, to pursuing a career in outdoor recreation!
Inspired by a term used by climbers, ‘Alpine Start’ denotes beginning a mountain ascent in the earliest hours of the morning, in order to maximize climbing time, minimize risk, and increase the group’s chances of success. The Alpine Start group of the CMC strives towards these same goals by providing young adults an early start in facing challenging experiences, developing outdoor skills, and building community.
Through shared outdoor experiences and skill-building, Alpine Start aims to:
- Develop caring, compassionate, and capable young adult leaders who have a lifelong desire to learn about, preserve, and actively engage in their environment.
- Foster a passion for life in youth and young adults, empowering them to guide and support themselves and others through challenges.
- Inspire the next generation of CMC members and volunteer leaders.
