Trip Description

Explore London:

Walk through beautiful Hampstead Heath in north London and overlook the city. Visit beautiful Victorian Highgate Cemetery (said to be haunted!). Take a river cruise to Greenwich and visit the Royal Observatory, where we can put one foot in each hemisphere at the Prime Meridian. Enjoy visiting the major sights of London by Hop-on-Hop-off bus. And how would any visit to London be complete without visiting local pubs for dinner?

Off to the Channel Islands:

Offering a unique blend of Britishness with a taste of France, the Channel Islands are known for their quiet charm and old-fashioned courtesy. Our Channel Island adventure begins when we hop a train from London and then a ferry to St. Peter Port on Guernsey, said to be one of the prettiest harbor towns in Europe. Guernsey is the former home of author Victor Hugo and one of the sites of a 5-year occupation by Germans during WWII. We’ll learn about the history and culture of the islands, and walk both inland and along the majestic coastline. We’ll take a step back in time on a one-day excursion to the car-free island of Sark, which we’ll explore by horse-and-carriage and optional bikes or walking. Then it’s on to Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, where we’ll enjoy a variety of coastal walks with local guides—including a shepherd and a naturalist. We’ll be sure to linger in the town's restaurants to savor the famous Jersey Royal potatoes or to try the mysterious Jersey black butter. Finally, we’ll fly from Jersey back to London for our final afternoon of exploration and our farewell dinner together.
