Trip Overview

Join this High Altitude Mountaineering Adventure Travel CMC trip to experience Colombia’s high altitude, stunning scenery, and unique culture! This hidden gem is less traveled and makes it even more enticing and interesting. We will be trekking, general mountaineering, and some roped glacier travel. I plan to keep the trip on the low technical side but general roped glacier travel on moderate slopes is planned. I have hired in country support for logistics, route finding, and cooking for us while we are camping in tents. However, the expectations are that we are self sufficient, have some experience with multi day mountaineering (preferably at High Altitude), and fit enough to carry a 30 lb pack for several days at a moderate pace on demanding terrain. Please note than much of this trip is at high altitude including sleeping at high altitudes.

Activities / Difficulty

Roped Glacier Travel, one peak is 17,500 ft high, up to 10 hour days (or more) of high activity output, carry pack with your clothes, gear, and sleeping bag. Participant expected pack weight is around 30lbs.

Tents and Hotels. (Hotels for this trip is a term I would interpret loosely)

Skills and Training Requirements

High Altitude Mountaineering School Graduate required or contact leader if you believe you have equivalent experience. Required to go to 13k feet within 2 weeks of departure for Colombia for vital pre trip acclimation.

Pre-trip Activities

Highly encouraged to come to a group hike before our departure. (Time and Date TBD)
