Trip Description - 2 spots remaining

Hike one of the world’s classic treks on this incredible journey around majestic Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe. The Tour du Mont Blanc encircles this amazing massif, nicknamed the “Monarch of the Alps.” At an elevation of 15,777 ft, glaciers cover approximately 40 square miles of Mont Blanc—hence its name, meaning “white mountain.”  This challenging trek is a 107-mile circuit with 6.2 miles of elevation gain and loss, and spectacular scenery. You'll hike 5-9 hours a day through stunning mountain passes, verdant meadows, lush forests, and glacial valleys.  You'll cross the borders of France, Italy and Switzerland on foot.

The hike starts and ends in the famous mountaineering town of Chamonix, France, which hosted the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924.  You will trek counter-clockwise into Italy and enjoy a rest day in the medieval town of Courmayeur. Continue into Switzerland amid the tinkling of alpine cow bells before you cross back into France. You will have two opportunities to take a cable car up to the Mont Blanc massif—upon arrival in Chamonix before the hike and in Courmayeur during your rest day (not included in the trip cost).

Accommodations include charming boutique hotels to rustic and cozy mountain huts serving hearty fare and ample panoramic views. As you traverse through three Alpine countries, you will savor flavorful and distinctive culinary dishes—from French croissants to Italian pizzas to Swiss Alpine cheeses fresh from the milk of the Swiss cows pasturing in the mountains for the summer, as well as a variety of local beers and wines as you desire (not included in the trip cost).  To experience a taste of all three cultures during one trek is truly a memorable event!

In addition to cultural delicacies and genuine Alpine hospitality, you will wander up ancient trails through tall forests and grassy meadows, past enormous waterfalls and stoic glaciers, and through charming hamlets hearing the clinking of cowbells as you gaze at mountain wildlife and colorful alpine flowers.   will hike along the “Roman Way,” where the Roman legions traversed 200 years ago.  On clear days can see the varied terrain and geography that make up the Mont Blanc massif, including eleven independent peaks over 13,000 ft.
