In honor of Women's History Month and International Women's Day (March 8), the Colorado Mountain Club is celebrating women all month - from the women of our past that were true trailblazers, scaling icy mountains in their bonnets and wool skirts all the way to the women of today, that are pushing the boundaries of outdoor sports in ways our founding women could not have even imagined.

Throughout March, we will have hikes, events, and more to celebrate women in the outdoors. Click on any of the links below to learn more.

We hope you join us for Women's Month at the CMC. These events are inclusive and open to all gender identities, including men that want to join in the celebration of women in the outdoors.

Women of the CMC

Throughout the month, we'll be highlighting some of the leading women of the CMC who help inspire and motivte us all.

Bea Slingsby

Bea Slingsby:

"At the 2018 Backcountry Bash, Bea was awarded the CMC’s Gudy Gaskill Award, an annual award that honors a female CMC member who serves as a positive and inspirational example of volunteerism. Bea says she often hears younger CMC members tell her, “I want to be like you when I am your age!” but to Bea, ‘old’ is more of a state of mind than a state of being—and she’s not quite there yet."

'Because of the CMC, I have met and developed strong relationships with many amazing women. They are my mentors, role models and friends. Every class I take or trip I go on, I can always count on strong and empowering women instructors and classmates to be there.
