Leader,  Frank Drumm,

From the Monarch Lake Trailhead, take the Buchanan Creek and Cascade Creek Trail reaching Mirror Lake and Crater Lake, both at the base of flaunting Lone Eagle Peak that towers with a imposing face at 11,920' altitude. This subalpine setting that is west of the Continental Divide in the midst of high mountainous and famous landmarks are just breath-taking. As the participants trek the part of the Cascade Creek Trail, they will be treated to a succesion of the most gorgeous water cascades. Of historic interest, Lone Eagle Peak was named after the early aviation pioneer and hero, Charles A. Lindbergh, the first to fly from New York to Paris. Occuring in 1927 in a plane powered by a single engine with nine cylinders. The peak was named to honor Lindbergh, using his sobriquet. This outing will warrant many photographs, so bring your camera to record a day well-spent in the mountains.

Please keep in mind that the pace will be CASUAL.  If this will frustrate you, please select another hike.  No dogs, please. ( No.  I happen to love dogs.)
