This presentation with Dr. Jon Kedrowski, recent summitter of Everest, will explore the nuts and bolts of mountain weather patterns and how critical this information is for outdoor pursuits, especially for Colorado 14ers. Kedrowski uses real-world examples including new findings from his groundbreaking project where Jon slept on the summit of all 55 Colorado 14ers from sunset to sunrise in 95 days while his friend Chris joined him on Ten of the peaks and provided forecasts as well. The stories that unfolded during Jon's Bivys project will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Meteorological concepts presented apply to anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Topics include diagnosing weather in the field, forecasting weather windows, wind and temperature at altitude, 14ers, 13ers, and Everest; thunderstorms; monsoons; concepts of gear; and human physiology. Jon will be on hand to sign copies of his latest book titled "Sleeping on the Summits: Colorado 14er Bivys."
