Details

This early season backpack will truly test one’s stamina and endurance. We’ll begin early Friday morning on Day #1 (after setting up a car shuttle) by hiking along the Colorado Trail from Kenosha Pass near to Long Gulch- 11/1,600'. Day #2 we’ll move camp by backpacking up the Colorado Trail to the headwaters of Lost Park and then continuing down Lost Park and over to and just past the Lost Park Campground- 13/1,100'. On Day #3, the group will backtrack back to the Colorado Trail (in Lost Park) and head southeast to a saddle; then we'll hike down the Colorado Trail to the Payne Gulch Trail where we'll follow it to a wonderful camp location along Bluestem Creek- 10/750'. On the final Day #4, we’ll backpack up the Payne Gulch Trail to a small saddle and down into Payne Gulch and back to the vehicles- 7/1,600'.

Notes

The backpacking trip I had originally planned for this area was planned based on a minimal snow pack, but due to all of the Front Range snow storms we received in the month of April, I had to change some of the routes ultimately coming up with the above description. Expect to see some snow on this backpack especially in some of the higher locations and shaded northeast aspects. If too much snow exists and prevents our moving along with the backpack, we'll reverse our direction and backtrack to the vehicles. Previous backpacking experience is necessary for this trip as well as carrying tall gaitors! NO SHOE SHOES WILL BE NECESSARY!

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
