Details

For RMOTHG members only. We'll hike a casual pace from NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) Mesa (great views of surrounding area) to the William Orr Trail .6 mi, then join the Mesa Trail for .4 mi UP to Bear Canyon TH. Ups and downs in first mile but lovely views of Flatirons. Then we'll hike Bear Canyon Trail, a rocky 1.7 mi, going up, alongside and above Bear Creek, often flattening and featuring switchbacks, many steps, mostly kind to short-legged hikers. Six easy stream crossings on rocks. Not that steep or hard, but still a good workout though we'll go slow, steady, the pace of slowest hiker. Lunch 2.30 hrs in, or earlier. NCAR offers displays that create clouds, tornados, and changing land forms for us to visit afterwards. We'll offer an optional, after-hike  stop at Southern Sun in Table Mesa on way home.
