We will start near the Soapstone Entrance ride on trail up to Mahogany Trial up to Canyon Trail. From here we will ride into Red Mountain Open space where we will bike on Cheyenne Rim Trail back to the Soapstone entrance. Although the ride will not be technically difficult, 20 miles is much harder on a mountain bike than a road bike and the trip will involve a SIGNIFICANT amount of uphill biking. This is not a trip for beginner riders.
The group will meet at the Albertson's on N. College and Willox and drive together to Soapstone. The meeting time will be provided to participants via e-mail.

It is an uphill ride from the entrance through open prairie
where we might see pronghorn. From there we wind our way up Mahogany Trail to
Canyon Trail. Canyon Trail is an old ranch road that makes it’s way uphill (again)
past remnants of ranch operations to Cheyenne Rim. Cheyenne Rim trail offers
great views of the canyon in Red Mountain Open Space. This portion of the trail
goes down and up (more ups!) before returning to the trailhead near the
entrance to Soapstone. This will be a long ride so riders must make sure to
bring adequate food, water and sunscreen. Although the trails are not highly
technical it is rough in places so riders must have a mountain bike and a bike helmet.  Also since we will be travelling quite
far into the open space you should also bring a spare tire tube, pump, and
tools for changing a tire.
