Tenderfoot Mountain Trail Project, September 14 & 15

Open to the public

Ages 18+

Backpacking Dinners provided

Partner: USFS Dillon Ranger District

Volunteers will assist the USFS in closing user-created trails on
Tenderfoot Mountain. Unauthorized motorized use in certain places on the
mountain has created areas of bare soil and resulted in erosion.
Volunteers will backpack to the work site and tent camp. We'll use hand
tools to reestablish the natural contour, decompact soils and close
routes with signs and natural barriers.  The project will require
backpacking, bending, and lifting. This is a great opportunity to
participate in restoration of mountainside and the watershed.

Our project is generously supported by the National Forest Foundation's
Ski Conservation Fund. Founded by Congress in 1991, the National Forest
Foundation works to conserve, restore and enhance America's
193-million-acre National Forest System. Through community-based
strategies and public-private partnerships, the NFF helps enhance
wildlife habitat, revitalizes wildfire-damaged landscapes, restores
watersheds, and improves recreational resources for the benefit of all
Americans.

This project is separate from the current Tenderfoot Working Group that
is working to determine a plan of action for the Tenderfoot motorcycle
trail. Our project and partnership was initiated by the USFS and is a
great fit for CMC members with interest in stewardship and skilled in
backcountry travel.
