Want to do the CT but don't have the time for a real through hike?

Come join us for a few sections of the CT as dayhikes from Denver.

This summer I'll be leading a series of day hikes on segments 1-6 of the CT.

These will generally be long, 10-20 mi,

fast paced on-trail hikes requiring a car shuttle.

Trail shoes recommended.

CMC 10 essentials still required but keep it to a bare minimum.

They will also be exploratory hikes since

the leader had not done the whole route of each hike.

However the routes are well marked and mapped out and

the leader has excellent route finding skills.

These will also be doggy hikes for

well behaved, friendly but tough mountain mutts

able to handle the distance and elevation gain/loss.

Human participants are also expected to be dog friendly.

Most TH and CT access points require a small fee, $$.

Bring some $$ to contribute to the fee.

This hike will do the 2nd part of Segment 6 as described in

The CMC Guidebook, The Colorado Trail, 8th Edition.

Segment 6 is 32+ miles from Kenosha Pass,

over Georgia Pass and down to Hwy 9 North of Breckenridge.

I like long hikes but I probably couldn't find enough others to do this.

Plus the car shuttle would take a whole day by itself!

So I'll break up this segment into 3 parts.

The 1st part took us up to Georgia Pass from the Atlantic, Kenosha Pass side.

This 2nd part will take us up to Georgia Pass from the Pacific, Breckenridge side.

The nice part about this section is that it does not require a car shuttle.

Car pool from Denver to near Breckenridge,

up Swan River Rd to the North Fork of Swan River Rd where it intersects the CT at

mile 19.7 of Segment 6 at ~10,000' elevation.

Hike CT SSE up to Georgia Pass, 11,874', ~7.5 miles to mile 12.3 of Seg 6, and

back down to the cars.

Stop to eat on the way home, time permitting.

Register by emailing leader.

I encourage everyone to be willing to drive if at all possible.

We will probably need as many drivers as possible with the dogs and car shuttling.

Please specify:

- General hiking strength and speed and ability to maintain a fast pace, 2+ MPH on trail.

- If you are bring a dog

- If you can drive and if so, are you ok with dogs riding in your car for the whole drive or car shuttle part.

- Member number - makes adding members to the roster much easier for the leader!
