The spectacular rock formations at the Pass make this hike ROCK!. A good trail meanders through forest and meadow and into this special area. Depending on timing Fall colors might also add beauty to the trip.
Rain or snow no go.
Early start due to long Drive. Fourteen miles of the drive is on good graded road.
Pace is moderate. In addition to normal rest stops, we will take a few mini breaks to enjoy the views. Moderate pace, might not be a good hike for fast-paced hikers.
Suggest bringing poles if they help with creek crossing, and extra pair of socks. When I scouted this trip creeks were running high, log crossings in very poor condition or not at all. Six to eight creek crossings in first mile and a half. Beyond that point two or three more crossings with less creek flow.
Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
