Details

Learning to find your way with a topographical map and compass is a fundamental skill to safely enjoying the outdoors. This course covers navigation, route finding problems and navigating in adverse conditions.

Note that this course was formerly called "Hiking II: Navigation and Route Finding".
Prerequisites: Hiking and Survival Essentials or equivalent experience.
Students are required to purchase their own topo map at an approximate cost of $10-$15.
LECTURES:
Tuesday, 9/3, 6:30pm
Tuesday, 9/10, 6:30pm
Thursday, 9/12, 6:30pm (optional plotting practice)
FIELD TRIPS:
Saturday or Sunday, 9/14 or 9/15 If the course is full, please contact the BMS Chair at bms@cmcboulder.org to be put onto the wait list.
SIGN-UP REQUIREMENTS: You must be a current CMC member to sign up for these courses. There will not be an Orientation Night. Sign up at www.cmc.org on August 6th, at 8am. up for the courses Please sign up for courses only if you are able to attend ALL of the lectures and the field trips. Sign up for courses only if you own, can borrow or purchase the equipment required to take part in the field trips. When you sign up for a course, be sure and check the prerequisites. If you sign up for a course and do not have the required prerequisites, you will have to drop out of the course and be refunded as per the Refund Policy below.
REFUND POLICY: Please note that if you have to drop out of a course within 2 weeks of the 1st lecture and there is no wait list or nobody on the wait list is able to fill your space, there will be No Refunds ! To withdraw from a course, send an email to bms@cmcboulder.org. Ten percent (10%) of the cost of the course will be withheld for refunds granted.
