Hike in an area steeped in human history, geological features dating back to the age of dinosaurs and an abundance of plants and wildlife that thrive there.  Enjoy the Eagle Wind Trail, Little Thompson Overlook Trail and Indian Mesa Trail.  Humans have lived in this area for at least 5,000 years.  Until the mid-1800's, Native Americans inhabited the area maintaining a nomadic hunting-gathering lifestyle.  It was an ideal winter home for the Arapahoe, providing shelter from strong west winds, a variety of edible plants, an abundance of game,  and plentiful water from natural springs.  This area lies at the junction of two distinct geographic regions; the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains. The land is prodigious in a variety of flora and fauna - grasslands, forests, shrub land, mammals, avifauna, etc. Plan a surfeit of rewards in venturing in this notable area.
