"Learn safe footwork across, up, and down hard spring and summer snow, whether you come across it incidentally or deliberately.  You will practice climbing in balance, with bare boots and crampons until you are proficient; good footwork is the foundation of all climbing.  Use of the ice axe for self belay and self arrest in all positions will be demonstrated and practiced.  T trench anchors, pickets, boot-axe belays, and their applications will be practiced.  Rope management including short roping, roped team travel and it's limitations will be demonstrated and practiced.  Due to the amount of skills to be learned, this clinic may be spread over at least two sessions.  A peak or couloir climb will likely be scheduled to follow

Equipment:  Waterproofed boots, gaiters, crampons already fitted to boots, trekking or ski poles, clothes for playing on snow for the footwork practice, possibly a helmet.  For the remainder of the training, ice axe, pickets if you have them, helmet, harness recommended if you have one, 2 single and 1 double length sling, 2-4 carabiners, 2 locking carabiners.
