Now that 36 to Estes Park is reopened, we can once again enjoy RMNP!

This is a nice winter hike/snowshoe that starts at the longs peak trailhead and follows the east longs peak trail to treeline, then the trail junction above chasm lake, and finally to granite pass.  If the wind is excessive, we won't go all the way to granite pass.  There are great views of the Longs Peak Diamond, Mummy Range, and Estes Park.  This is not a technically difficult hike, since it is following a nicely switchbacked trail the entire way, but snow and ice will require good traction.

Please be sure to bring warm gear to block the wind and appropriate insulation.  Microspikes are often adequate due to the trail traffic, but bring snowshoes just in case.

Afterward, we could stop somewhere to eat in Estes Park to help stimulate the local economy.

Notes

Trip was a success, our group of 8 made it to Granite Pass and back without incident
