Details

We will meet Wednesday around noon in Silverton (the exact time will be worked out with the participants), shuttle the cars and hike in about 2.5 miles to a campsite with water.  Thursday will be 8 to 10 miles depending on conditions and camp near several possible water sources.  It may be necessary to drop down about 300 feet in elevation to get a good campsite with a water source along the La Garita Stock Driveway.  On Friday we will continue on about 10-12 miles and camp in the general area of Cataract Lake.  Leaving 10 miles on Saturday to reach Stony Pass.  This is the highest selection of the CT is hits 13,000 twice.  Most of the trail is above 12,000 feet.  If we need to walk down from Stony Pass to reach our cars it will add about 3 more miles to the last day (all down hill).

We need two drivers coming from the Denver area to make the shuttle so please sign up early.  Listed mileage is assuming we have two SUVs for the shuttle and leave a car at the top of Stony Pass.  Otherwise we will need to walk down to a better road where we will leave a passenger car.  I'm going to try and find a reasonably priced shuttle and plan on checking out the shuttle route to Stony Pass two weeks before this trip.

Denise Snow a long time adventure travel leader for CMC will be the Co-Leader.
