We will snowshoe east off Guanella Pass Road on the Abyss Trail for 5-6 miles. It does not have many views but still is a pretty trail through the trees and possibly we will see a couple moose and/or their tracks. Lunch may be 2.35 or 3 miles in (bring a sit pad for comfort at lunch). Elevation gain is only about 800-865 feet. There will be at least 2 ice/water areas (bring those extra socks just in case). Refer to National Geographic’s Trails Illustrated map # 104.

We will meet at the Conifer’s Staples parking lot at 8:30am. Carpooling (suggest that 4- wheel drivers volunteer) from there at 8:45 am about 15 miles, turning at Grant, north on the dirt Guanella Pass Road (CR 62). We will stop for optional refreshments afterwards in Pine Junction at the biker bar “Crossroads”. Please note we have 1 very cold, overused outdoor toilet near the trailhead.
