This trip will be Co-Led by Anne Stewart.  We will be on snowshoes and begin at the Bear Lake parking area in Rocky Mountain National Park.   Depending on snow conditions, we will choose an interesting, mostly off-trail route to Lake Haiyaha, and then if group energy and weather allow, we will proceed further into Chaos Canyon for up to a half mile above the lake.  This area is extremely rugged and beautiful, especially in winter, and not visited nearly as much as other popular destinations above Bear Lake.  If the snow is firm enough for efficient travel, we will choose a different route for the return, likely passing by the Chaos Cascades where the creek tumbles down a steep and impressive gully.  This trip usually ranks very high on the scale of scenic reward per unit effort.  Participants should be experienced snowshoers having a reasonably good level of fitness.  Depending on snow conditions, expect to be out for about 4 to 6 hours.

Participants must register by contacting Co-Leader, Anne Stewart [].  Online registrations are not accepted.
