The Y Couloir is a steep snow climb on the north face of Pikes Peak requiring a long approach through the Bottomless Pit. The approach on snowshoes and climb with alpine gear is strenous and requires snow climing experience and a high level of fitness. The group will camp at Barr Camp ($12 tent, $17 lean-to, $28 cabin, $8 dinner) on the evening of Friday 25 April and depart Barr Camp at 4:30 am on Saturday 26 April to approach and then ascend the Y Couloir. From the summit, members may hike 12 miles down Barr Trail or (if avaiable) ride the Cog Railway ($36 or less). If snow conditions are not safe on this date the trip will be postponed or cancelled.
