A fun relaxing, slow to moderate paced after-work social hike on a trail close to South Boulder.  No need to call or register, just show before 6:00 p.m. at the Boulder Group Clubroom (behind Neptune Mountaineering and above Elevations Credit Union).  Be prepared for the weather, bring a snack to share if you like,  and be sure to bring a headlamp/flashlight as we often hike into dusk and later.  Optional after hike food and/or drink at a restaurant near the clubroom.

Notes

We started out along the Homestead trail in the Meyers Gulch portion of White Ranch, and took a whim to go off-trail along the old wheel-track road to the old logging barn off to the south, which we'd always seen but never visited.  Upon drawing closer, enjoying the reminiscence of the 100-yr old homestead, the heavens opened and rain began sluicing down.  We decided to venture inside, seeing that the barn has been getting regular repair (based on the new boards in the siding and roof), and waited out the 20-minute rain on a level platform built into the back corner of the otherwise-sloping dirt floor of the barn.  Neil took pictures of the surrounding, by-now rain-soaked landscape, and we enjoyed the beauty of the grasses blowing in the at-times heavy wind from the comfort of our serendipitous shelter.  Despite not making it to the end of the trail, it was a beautiful short hike; we ut on our rain gear and ventured out when the rain lightened.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
