Hike will start and return to the Palmer Lake TH.  Preference is to conserve parking space at the TH so we will meet at the Monument Park & Ride (P&R) which is reached by Exit 161 from I-25 in Monument.  The P&R is located on the east side of I-25 just north of Hwy 105.  Meeting time is 6:30 am and departure will be 6:45 sharp.  Leader will be driving a tan Jeep Cherokee and an American flag will be displayed.  Please advise the leader if meeting at the TH.  We will leave the TH at 7 am.

This hike will contribute to understanding the Wilderness Qualities of the Rampart Range WIldlands, the largest block of  roadless land on the Front Range urban backdrop.  Along with other birding enthusiast we will hike thru the areas of Ice Cave Creek and other drainages identifying all bird species.  Most of the hike will be on-trail but some off-trail forays may be done.  Be prepared to hike up and down the trails as they go over ridges and into valleys.  The trails are rocky and loose rock scree may be encountered.  Wear adequate footwear and dress for the weather.  Pace will be moderate -- but with a chirp or the flit of a feather, forward progress will probably stop.  Be prepared with food and water for a full day in the outdoors.  Bring bird books, binoculars, camera and a great attitude for an outdoor adventure in this scenic area.

Several other bio-blitz hikes are available on Saturday June 21and Sunday June 22 -- you may sign up for both dates.  Many people will be camping overnight along Rampart Range Road on either Friday or Saturday night; those people are responsible for their own food and shelter.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
