Please contact Debbi Sheinman prior to this trip.  You need to have experience with Difficult C level hikes and be able to climb/scramble on Class 2- 3 rock.  However, I will  be hiking a casual pace.

After parking at the end of the dirt road, we'll walk down to the beginning of the trail in the Crags campground.  We'll take the steep Devil's Playgrond Trail (664A) up above treeline.  We'll then veer off the trail to the southwest and walk across the tundra to Sentinel Point.  If the snow isn't too deep we'll climb the rocks at Sentinel Point.  We'll then make our way down to Horsethief Park and return to our cars via Putney Gulch.  This is a Difficult C hike with about 3200 feet elevation gain and is about 10 miles in length. If conditions allow, we will scramble up the rocks at the top of Sentinel Point.  We may need ice walkers and/or snowshoes for this trip. .

*** If the snow is very deep, we may shorten the trip by starting at the Horsethief Park trailhead near the Midland Railroad Tunnel.  Then we will return the same way in which we came.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
