Let's do something different! This clinic will be almost entirely dedicated to the roll cast and its "variations." In Colorado we spend a lot of time subsurface fishing and having a good roll cast is imperative. Those that don't have a frustrating time with many tangles and missed opportunities. We will start in the Park with roll cast basics and then go to the Clear Creek to practice on water and discuss change in direction casts. A change in direction cast is one where the target is less than 180 degrees from where your fly is. For example, your nymph rig is on the dangle downstream and you want your cast to land across stream 90 degrees from where your flies are to start. What is the easiest and most reliable way to get there? Find out and do it in this clinic!
Participants should bring the rod they normally fish with a leader tapering to 4X, a strike indicator and weight. We will not be fishing, so you won't need waders, but you should have hat and sunglasses. If there is time the instructor will demonstrate obtaining drag free drift.
