This hike will contribute to understanding the Wilderness Qualities of the Rampart Range Wildlands, the largest block of roadless land on the Front Range urban backdrop. Under the guidance of a biologist, we will survey the headwaters or middle stretch of Gove Creek for interesting or unusual plant and animal life. Most of the hike will be off-trail and exploratory -- be prepared to climb over and through downed trees, maneuver through rocks, and wade in streams. This is a very lush and wet area, with wide meadows and ponds near the headwaters, narrowing eventually to a canyon. Pace will be intermittent -- the biologist will guide us to research spots, and we will spend time in that area before moving on to the next spot. Be prepared with food and water for a full day in the backcountry. Ages 16+; Under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian.

Several other bioblitz hikes are available on Saturday June 21and Sunday June 22 -- you may sign up for both dates. Many people will be camping overnight along Rampart Range Road on either Friday or Saturday night; those people are responsible for their own food and shelter.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
