This is a great chance to get out in the field with biologists and botanists to see if this part of the Roadless Area has wilderness characteristics. We will occasionally be on trail and often off-trail, as there are no system trails yet in this area. We will move slowly throughout the day assessing plants and animal presence as we go along. Members are welcome to ask questions of the scientists. There may be interesting views along the way.

Bring wildflower book, camera, binoculars, if you want.

The Rampart Range Roadless Area; about 30,000 total acres; is the last foothills area between metro Denver and Colorado Springs that is still relatively untouched. There are off-road vehicle play areas to the north and southwest.

Dakan Mountain Road requires high clearance vehicles and four wheel drive may be helpful in places if the road surface is wet. Rampart Range Road is passable for passenger cars.

Trailhead is about 2 miles east of Rampart Range Road along Dakan Mountain Road.

Meeting place will be in the south side of the metro area along C-470.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
