Colorado Fourteeners Initiative will be working on rerouting the North Maroon Peak (14,014') trail and restoring the old trail corridor near the rock glacier. This work on vegetated lower slopes of this iconic peak in order to avoid extremely rare and fragile alpine tundra plants. Volunteers will be working at lower elevations and not doing technical climbing.

The trail crew will hike into the basecamp on July 11th and hike out again on the 14th. CFI will provide all tools and trail crew leadership. CMC will provide a trip leader. The basecamp has a full backcountry kitchen set up, including a bear fence for food storage. The basecamp also includes a backcountry bathroom, in accordance with Leave No Trace guidelines.Previous trail work experience is NOT required, but backpacking experience IS required. This project will require a short, but steep hike in and lifting and moving rocks. You must provide your own camping equipment.

No dogs allowed. CMC Policy states that participants may not summit 14ers during the volunteer project. An email with more details on the project and logistics is forthcoming (carpools, food, etc...) If you need to cancel, please let us know well in advance. This is critical to the success of our project and helps us plan for food, gear, etc....
