Location

Stay in Mount Elbert Lodge 11.4 miles west on CO 82.  Hike East Ridge to summit Mount Elbert on Saturday, return to lodge Saturday night.  Sunday options include, going home, Hiking around Interlaken historic resort near twin lakes.

Friday eve drive to Twin Lakes, stay at Mt Elbert Lodge 2 nights. LEADER HAS ONE SPACE IN OUR CABIN, OTHERWISE YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN RESERVATIONS AT THIS LODGE OR IN LEADVILL OR BUENA VISTA AND MEET SAT AM AT TRAILHEAD DESCRIBED ABOVE. BE READY TO DEPART TRAILHEAD AT 7:00am Saturday to climb peak. Expect long day. BE PREPARED TO END IN THE DARK. BE PREPARED FOR SEVERE WIND AND COLD.



f you wishi to join us at lodge Sat eve share group spagetti dinner at cabin.  Bring your own breakfast for Sat & Sun morning. Bring swim suits for hot tub at lodge.



Our cabin has space for 1 person plus Tom & wife Linda. Others can make reservation at lodge-there are individual rooms and cabins of many different sizes. Reserve as early as possible as space is limited there.




Notes

Be prepared for severe winter weather, Snowshoes required, microspikes recommended.

I climbed on February 10, 2017 and found the snow conditions excellent for snow shoes all the way to the summit.

Be perpared for extreme winds and cold. I expect 6.5 hours to summit and 4.5 hours down at a steady pace. Return around 6pm.
