From the TH at Echo Lake we follow the up and down Resthouse Trail into Mt Evans Wilderness for three miles to where it crosses a small saddle somewhat past the start of its long climb to Lincoln Lake.  Here we hike eastward off trail through deep snow for 1/2 mile to a small summit at 11,146'.  We return the way we came.  We will need to carry snowshoes for the off trail which is the reason for the "difficult" rating (in summer this would be a "moderate" hike).  A recent scout revealed the trail to be very well packed snow and I was able to hike without snowshoes.  But just off trail the snow was quite deep.  In an area known for its high wind, I am hoping trees and the bulky Goliath Peak will give us some shelter.  Or maybe we will just get a great weather day as I did on my scout.

This trip has us Denver bound on I-70 late Saturday afternoon, which may be a traffic problem.  So we can return via Squaw Pass to Evergreen and then to I-70 where much of the congestion hopefully has broken.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
