Details

This is a moderately challenging short hike with a beautiful views.

Although this trip is titled for new CMC members, all are welcome.  We will answer new members' practical questions and talk about pace, clothing, gear, etc.  Bring your questions. The goal is to get new members comfortable with the trip sign-up and trip-taking process.

Please also bring  the  10 essentials  appropriate to a three-hour hike and the actual weather.  Wear proper hiking boots.  No jeans or cotton  clothing.  Be prepared for inclement weather.   Anyone who shows up in the wrong footwear or clothing, or with insufficient water, etc., may not be allowed on the hike.  Rain jacket with hood  may  be a good pack item.  We can talk more about all that on trip day.  I will send out an email a day or two before.

Although it's the end of the season, microspikes or equivalent may be necessary, because if it snows anytime before, the trail could be icy.  If by some chance the snowpack  is sufficient,  we may want to  wear snowshoes.  Just borrow or rent  some if you don't have them.  (I do have some to lend that will fit tall people.) NO prior experience is necessary because snowshoeing is as easy as walking, although we'll share a few tips.  At the end of the day, you will be a snowshoer!

No dogs, please.  CMC policy is to allow dogs only on designated "doggy hikes," which abound in the spring and fall

Do NOT assume inclement weather means the trip is cancelled.  We usually cancel only if the roads are trecherous.  The leader will advise of any cancellation.
