This is not Santa Fe Peak (13,180') near Keystone, and it is not the well known Beaver Brook Trail running from Golden west above Clear Creek.   Santa Fe Mtn (10,537) is in a Clear Creek County Open Space named Beaver Brook Watershed and is accesible off Squaw Pass Rd a few miles west of Evergreen.  It encompasses the headwaters of Beaver Brook Creek.  The terrain and vegetation are similar to GGCSP which is about 8 miles to the north.  Unlike GGCSP the area is not developed trails but is mostly old utility access roads apparently now closed to all but official vehicles.  This is great hiking and you don't even mind the roads.  It does feel like GGCSP with out any trail signs.  The final 200' to the summit is off trail on a south facing slope that seems to be clear of snow.  I have not been to the summit but I think there will be some interesting views because of the odd directions of familiar places, like GGCSP to the north and Squaw Pass Road to the south.  Also, we should look directly down on Floyd Hill and Idaho Springs.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
