Matthew Winters Park including Dakota Ridge and Zorro Trail, Jefferson County.

Meet at the large parking lot for William F. Hayden Park at Green Mountain. From Denver, take I-70 W to C470 South.Then take the W. Alameda Pkwy exit towards Dinosaur Ridge.  Go West on Alameda Parkway to the end of the road and turn North onto S. Rooney Rd.  The parking area is off to the right and the trail to the left.

From the Zorro Trailhead, we will head west to the summit of Dakota Ridge, then south along the ridge descending to and crossing the road into Matthew Winters park. From there, we'll hike along the west side of the park to the north parking lot where we'll again cross the road and climb the trail to Dakota Ridge, hiking south until we reach the Zorro cutoff and return to the parking lot.


Scouted Tuesday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More than twenty types of wildflowers blooming and migratory hawk count going on north side of Dakota Ridge.
