This is a car-shuttle snowshoe in Rocky Mountain National Park. Bring your senior park pass if you have one.

Details

Participants from Denver meet at unpaved parking lot on south side of Golden Gate Canyon Road and Hwy 93 at 7:30 a.m. Carpool up Hwy 93 to Broadway to Hwy 36 to Lyons. Stop at the public restrooms in Lyons for biobreak and to meet Boulder participants. Estimated time of arrival 8:30 a.m..



Participants from Boulder meet at the public restrooms in Lyons for bio break and to meet the Denver group at 8:30 a.m.



From Lyons, caravan to Bear Lake to leave car for shuttle. Approximate time of arrival 9:30; drive back to Hallowell Park trailhead and start snowshoe. On the trail by 10 a.m.



From Hallowell Park snowshoe southwest to Mill Creek Basin, cross bridge and head toward Bierstadt Lake for lunch. After lunch continue to Bear Lake, where we'll pick up the shuttle car and return to Hallowell Park. Avalanche danger is low to non-existant along this trail.



Bring snowshoes, poles, gaiter and microspikes, water, snacks, lunch, warm layers, and 10 essentials. Plan on 4-5 hours of adventure.



Coffee stop after in Estes Park for those who want to stop, carpool-driver dependent.
