Avalanche Terrain Avoidance (ATA) is a three-hour seminar for those who DO NOT want to travel in avalanche terrain.

This seminar will teach you what conditions are required to activate an avalanche, how to use CAIC's avalanche website, how to plan a trip during winter and NOT travel in avalanche prone conditions.

This seminar WILL NOT teach you about beacons, probes & avalanche rescue.

These subjects are taught in the AIARE Level 1 School for those who DO WANT to travel in avalanche terrain safely..

The half-day field observation is required on the Saturday following the lecture.

If you are a member, register for the seminar on line.

If you are not a member, call 303/279-3080 X2 Membership Services to register the field observation session.

No, you don't have to have heavy snow pack to learn how to assess avalanche terrain.

Equipment requirements will be determined at the lecture.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
