The two class nights will be held in conference rooms C&D of the American Mountain Center in Golden.
The first and second field days will be held at Pine Valley Open Space Park in Jefferson County.
The location of the third field day will be determined by the trip leader in your group.

Come out and enjoy fly fishing the streams and lakes of the Rockies. The Fly Fishing School is designed for both beginning and novice anglers and is an incredible value.

Experienced instructors teach the basics of gear, knots, entomology, fish behavior, and casting in two evening classes and three field days.

Our school (or similar experience) is required for ALL Denver Group fly fishing trips.

Class Schedule:

Monday March 26 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, classroom

Monday April 2 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, classroom

Saturday April 7 from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM (weather permitting) First field trip, Open Valley Ranch, Jeffco County.

Topics to be presented: Casting demo, fish behavior, Drag free drift, presentation, mending.

Saturday April 14 from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM (Weather permitting) Second field trip, Open Valley Ranch, Jeffco County.

Topics to be presented: Lake and stream practice (everything you learned the previous weekend).

Saturday April 21 2018 from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM (Weather permitting) Third field trip, trip leader’s choice, generally within 1-2 hour drive from Golden.

Topic: fishing on your own with group leader assistance and guidance.

Note to all students: You can’t miss any field trip. The field trips are waders on, hands on, in the stream teaching and are mandatory to graduate.

You will receive a comprehensive 112 page handbook covering all aspects of fly fishing, 26 flies and many accessories with a value of $120. You will need a rod, reel, line, waders, boots and CO fishing license by the first field day (the Saturday following the last classroom session). If you need gear, part of the program is designed to help you understand what to get and the instructors can assist you in equipment selection during the class nights.


Student/Participant requests for refunds of tuition must be requested to the CMC office by phone or in person by the student directly and the student should notify the School director as well.
Requests made prior to 30 days before the beginning of the School will be processed less a $10 handling fee.
Requests made within 30 days of the School will be refunded at 50% of the amount paid.
No refunds will be made after the beginning of the School unless the student had a justified reason (death in the family, accident, illness, etc)
