Corral Creek – rated as a Novice / Intermediate trip – 5 mile loop.
The trail starts at the top of Vail Pass – 10,549 ft. The Corral Creek Trailhead is on the East side of I-70 – which means there is a ‘day-use-fee’ - $6 but 50% discount or $3 with a National Parks Sr. Pass. The first 0.3 mile is a climb of about 200 ft as you enter the Eagle Nest Wilderness Ares [no mechanized vehicles] and then a pleasant tour with gradual changes in elevation. The Corral Creek Trail itself actually follows the creek and bends around to the South. You eventually loop around and at the 2.75 mile point where the trail hits its lowest point and actually crosses back under West I-70. Catch the bike path heading North, paralleling the interstate, with a gradual ascent of the last 1.5 miles back to the parking lot on the West side of the interstate where we left our cars. Estimated time is 3 – 4 hours.

FYI - The trip is described on P-27 – Corral Creek in ‘A Falcon Guide – Winter Trails of Colorado’ – The Best Cross-Country Ski & Snowshoe Trails.
