Details

We will snowhoe on the CMC snowshoe trail from the winter parking lot at Brainard Lake, to the CMC hut at the far end of Brainard Lake and back.  You must supply your own snowshoes! (see below)

Although this trip is for designed for new CMC members and any member new to snowshoes, all are welcome.  We will answer new members' practical questions and talk about pace, clothing, gear, etc.

Please bring your  10 essentials  and dress for  that day's possible weather.  Wear proper, waterproof hiking boots.  No jeans or cotton  clothing.  We can talk more about all that on trip day.

Never snowshoed?  Borrow a pair or rent some at REI or at your local mountain store, get snow baskets (usually the same brand) to fit your hiking poles, be sure your hiking boots are waterproof, add some gaiters, and you will be good to go. We’ll show you a few steps, talk about equipment, and have fun in the snow.

Please bring  the  10 essentials  appropriate to  the weather.    If you haven't yet re-provisioned your pack for winter sports, consider these items:

  • Hand/toe warmers

  • Balaclava or neck gaiter

  • Microspikes

  • Thermos with hot drink

  • Boot gaiters

  • And don’t forget to put the snow baskets on your hiking poles!

I will email you a day or two ahead to advise of trail conditions.
