The Manitou Incline has reopened again!!  There has been a lot of closures over the past few years for trail maintenance.  Let's go and see if the new Incline revamp has affored us an easier climb (doubtful).

The leader has not been able to scout the trail this year.  It has been closed since August, 2017 and is reopening on Dec. 2.  There are some improvements especially in shoring up the steps as they were in general decline.  The distance and elevation gain and grade is the same.  1 mile up and 4 miles down.  2000 feet elevation gain in 2744 steps.  Average grade is 41% with some grade reaching 68%.   This will be a self paced climb and we will all regroup at the top.  Don't worry, it is not a race.  You will not be able to abort the climb once you start and you will not be able to go back the way you came.  We will all go down the Barr Trail back to the trailhead.  Hiking poles are not used on the uphill portion but if you have collapsible poles they will come in handy for the downhill trail.  Small pack with just water, pole (s), and a jacket is all that is needed.  There has been a change in parking for the Incline which I will try to figure out before our trip.  Be prepared to share in a modest parking fee and perhaps a very short shuttle ride to the trailhead.

Notes

We will stop for lunch at one of the restaurants in either Manitou or Colorado City afterwards before our return home.  We will keep a close eye on the weather/snowfall.  This is NOT a good hike if there is snow.  A little is OK but a lot is not.  It will be cancelled if we get much snow by then,

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
