Staunton State Park is the newest Colorado State Park, opened 2013. State Parks pass required or fee admittance. We will Staunton Ranch trail, then Bugling Elk Trail to West Meadows trail. We will then hike out to Lions Head to a new circle trail that goes around Lion Head near the summit. This trail is not yet on their trail maps. Hiking West Meadows trail and around Lions Head will be exploratory as leaders have not been on these 2 last trails.

Bring clothing to keep you warm and dry for up to 8 hr hike. Some trails are quite rocky.

This will be a moderate paced hike approx 2mph. We will have short lunch at our destination. Park closes at 5pm, so we will hike as briskly as possible to complete this lengthy loop. Trekking poles and microspikes may be beneficial. Microspikes are strongly recommended for any winter hike. BE SURE TO BRING HEADLIGHT AND EXTRA BATTERIES.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
